Craft economies have traditionally been highly related to place and locality. Craft-making is often viewed as culturally embedded material production involving close engagement of the maker with the physical world, creating objects highly related to ‘place’. This panel explores how craft and design can re-interpret traditional objects in accordance to demands of modern aesthetic and functionality which go beyond customer imagination.
